Kate Burton was born September 10, 1957 in Geneva, Switzerland. She is the daughter of the late actor Richard Burton. She is a graduate of Brown university with a degree in Russian and European history. Burton then went on to earn a graduate degree in Theatre at Yale University.

She played Nick Burkhardt's aunt, Marie Kessler, a Grimm, in the NBC series Grimm. In addition to her stage work, Burton has appeared in such films as Alice in Wonderland, Anne of a Thousand Days, Big Trouble in Little China, The First Wives Club, Life with Mikey, and The Ice Storm. Her TV appearances include, Spenser: For Hire, All My Children, Law and Order, The Practice, West Wing, Judging Amy, Medium, Rescue Me, Grey's Anatomy, and Brooklyn Bridge. She has also narrated several best selling Audio Books.
