Opening Quote: "You will face yourself again in a moment of terror." – Mihail Sebastian

Scene: Monroe goes upstairs at the spice shop and notices an officer using a flashlight to look in.

[Monroe quickly gets down and hides out of sight. The officer tries to open the door, but it's locked. The scene shifts to the basement]
Wu: We should've killed Renard when we had the chance.
Hank: We never had the chance.
Monroe: [He comes downstairs] Hey, guys. Cops were just here.
Nick: Well, did they leave?
Monroe: Not before they checked out the shop, like, fully.
Rosalee: What if they come back and break in?
Hank: Nick, you need to get out of here.
Eve: I'm going with you.
Monroe: What's to stop Renard from coming after all of us?
Nick: Nothing.
Hank: Renard will assume we know where you are.
Wu: Well, then I guess it's good we're out of there.
Eve: What do you mean "out of there"?
Hank: Renard wants our resignations first thing in the morning.
Monroe: He's cleaning house.
Nick: Let's go.
Rosalee: Leave Diana's drawing-we'll keep trying to figure it out.
[Nick folds up the cloth and Eve take a picture of Diana's drawing, and they leave]
Wu: We should've killed Renard when we didn't have the chance.

Scene: Adalind looks at the ring on her finger.

[Flashback of Bonaparte telling Adalind the consequences of taking the ring off in "Set Up"]
Renard: [He walks into the room] How was your day?
Adalind: Not very good.
Renard: That's too bad.
Adalind: If anything happens to Nick—
Renard: Yes, I've heard it all before. I really think you should be more worried about what happens to you.
Adalind: How are we supposed to make this work?
Renard: I'm not concerned about "we" making this work. It's your problem. Like it or not... [He takes Adalind's hand] you are stuck with me.
[Adalind quickly pulls her hand away]
Renard: And you better get with the program before I take office. [He puts his hand under Adalind's chin] I expect a lot of support from the first lady of this city. [He leaves]

Scene: Nick puts the cloth back in the box.

[Nick picks up the stick, but he knows something is off when he holds it. Eve watches as he quickly puts the stick away]
Eve: You're doing the right thing.
[Nick puts the box away and quickly stands up]
Eve: What is it?
Nick: Nothing.
Eve: That didn't look like nothing to me. You felt something.
Nick: I... didn't want to put it back.
Eve: Why?
Nick: I don't know. It felt like I needed it.
Eve: Do you?
Nick: Well, it saved my life.
Eve: And mine. You love Adalind.
Nick: Why are you asking?
Eve: I'm not. I can feel it. [She walks past Nick]

Scene: Wu walks up to Hank with his resignation letter and box of possessions.

Wu: Got my resignation done. You?
Hank: Just printing it out.
Wu: What happened to Nick's stuff?
Hank: I.A. confiscated everything this morning.
Wu: What the hell do they think they're gonna find?
Hank: They are wiping the slate clean.
Renard: [He finishes up a conversation and walks up to Hank and Wu] I want you both out by the end of the day.
Hank: No problem. Here's my resignation.
Renard: [To Wu] And yours.
Wu: Actually, it is a problem.
Hank: Wu...
Wu: This is not right.
Renard: I really don't care what you think, Sergeant. I want your resignation, and I want you off the premises. Or if you'd like, we can escort you out.
[Wu angrily looks at Renard before handing him his resignation letter]
Renard: Thank you. Now get out. [He goes to his office]
Wu: This is not right.
Hank: Wu, back it down. You're starting to-
[Wu tries to go after Renard, but Hank holds him back]
Hank: Wu, pull yourself together. This is not the place you want to do this. Wu, stop.
[Wu fights keep stay in control before he morphs into his primal state]
Hank: Do you hear me?
Wu: [He pants as he finally manages to control himself] Yeah. Yeah.
Hank: [He lets go of Wu] Now grab your stuff, and let's get the hell out of here.

Scene: Nick and Eve look at the picture of Diana's drawing.

Eve: These are the symbols I saw on the dead guy's face in hell, or wherever it was he took me.
Nick: And everything else is what Diana saw.
Eve: Did the Crusaders make these marks on the cloth, or was it already there when they got to it?
Nick: Well, I don't know if the cloth was with the stick when they found it, but none of this was visible with spectral imaging. How could Diana see it?
Eve: Do you remember what your mother said to us about Diana?
[Flashback of Kelly talking about Diana's destiny in "Synchronicity"]
Nick: Diana's power is far greater than anything Renard has. [He hears footsteps approaching]
Eve: Do you hear something?
Nick: Someone's coming. More than one.
[Eve turns off the lantern]
Hank: Hey, Nick, it's me and Wu.
[Eve turns the lantern back on]
Wu: We got some sandwiches, water, and some other stuff that'll last a long time.
Nick: You guys hand in your resignations?
Hank: We did.
Wu: We are officially unemployed.
Nick: I bet Renard was pretty broken up to see you guys go.
Hank: Oh, yeah.
Eve: We're a threat to him.
Hank: Well, we better figure out how we're gonna deal with this, because I do not plan on living down here with you guys.
Eve: As long as Renard is captain, he'll only have the precinct. But when he becomes mayor...
Nick: He'll have all of Portland.
Wu: Well, there's got to be a way to stop him before he becomes mayor.
Hank: Yeah, we'll just convince him the best thing to do is resign.
Wu: Oh, that shouldn't be very hard. He's a reasonable dickwad.
Nick: What if we don't have to convince him?
Hank: I don't think he'll do it if we just ask politely.
Nick: Or we don't ask. We do it. The same way Eve got all the information from Rachel.
Hank: Well, Eve slept with Rachel.
Eve: I was Renard at the time.
Hank: Yeah, but who are you gonna be this time? Rachel's dead, and we can't have two Renards out there.
Nick: Why not?
Wu: Nick, really? One Renard out there is more than enough.
Nick: Well, not if one of them is one of us. [To Eve] Do you still have the hat?
Eve: Yeah, I have it. But I don't know if I can go through that again.
Nick: No, not you. Me.
Eve: You want me to turn you into Renard?
Nick: How else are we gonna get him to agree to what we want?
Wu: I have no idea what you're talking about. But I think I like it.

Scene: Jeremiah Rogers knocks on Renard's office door.

Renard: Jeremiah. Well, this is a surprise.
Jeremiah: We need to talk.
Renard: Yeah, of course, come on in. Something about the campaign?
Jeremiah: No, I don't want to talk about the campaign. Shut the door.
Renard: All right. [He closes the door] What's the problem?
Jeremiah: Rachel Wood. You were arrested for her murder.
Renard: Now, look, I had nothing to do with her death. As you may have heard, the charges were completely dropped.
Jeremiah: You were having an affair with her.
Renard: That is none of your business.
Jeremiah: It certainly is my business! We were friends. I worked with her. We helped to get you elected.
Renard: What's this about?
Jeremiah: I was there that night.
Renard: Were you?
Jeremiah: I saw you go into her apartment. When I went in after you left, she was dead. I found her body.
Renard: Look, I didn't kill Rachel.
Jeremiah: I loved her, and you killed her!
Renard: What do you want?
Jeremiah: Justice.
Renard: And how do you expect to get that?
Jeremiah: Why don't you think about how much it'll cost to keep my mouth shut? You got 24 hours. [He angrily leaves]

Scene: Adalind gets a call from Nick while at the park with Diana and Kelly.

Adalind: [Answering] Hello?
Nick: It's me. Can you talk?
Adalind: Yeah, I'm just at the park with the kids.
Nick: Are you okay?
Adalind: Yeah. Are you?
Nick: There may be a way to stop Renard from becoming mayor.
Adalind: What? How?
Nick: The Verfluchte Zwillingsschwester.
Adalind: I can't do that. I'm with the kids.
Nick: No, um... Eve is gonna do it for me.
Adalind: Oh. Um, so you're gonna need some of his hair. When do you need it?
Nick: As soon as possible. Where's Renard now?
Adalind: At the precinct, I think.
Nick: Okay, go home. I'll send Monroe to you. He'll call before he comes up, but you have to be very careful. Renard can't know you had anything to do with this.
Adalind: Nick, this better work. I can't spend another night at that house.
Nick: Hopefully you won't have to. [He hangs up. To Eve and Hank] We're good.

Scene: Renard meets with Grossante.

Renard: As you know, the new captain of this precinct will be reporting directly to the mayor's office.
Grossante: I understand. It would be an honor to succeed you, sir.
Renard: Yes, I know. Before I announce my decision, you're gonna have to prove your loyalty. And not just to the mayor's office... but to me.
Grossante: I'm ready anytime... sir.

Scene: Rosalee and Monroe work on making the Verfluchte Zwillingsschwester.

Monroe: You got everything you need?
Rosalee: Except for the hair.
Monroe: Are you sure you should be handling all this stuff, I mean, now that you're pregnant?
Rosalee: I think it should be fine, as long as I don't breathe through the hat.
[Eve opens the shop door]
Monroe: And seriously, is this even a good idea in the first place? I mean, the last time we did this, Juliette turned into a pretty wicked Hexenbiest.
[Eve walks into the room]
Monroe: I mean, not that it was her fault, by the way.
Eve: Adalind should be home by now. You should go.
Monroe: Okay, how much hair do you need?
Eve: Adalind will know, but get back here as soon as you can.
Monroe: Okay, okay. I'm out. [He leaves]

Scene: There is a knock on Jeremiah's door and he grabs a gun from a desk drawer before looking through the peephole.

Jeremiah: [He sees that it is Renard who knocked] What are you doing here?
Renard: I have what you asked for. [He holds up a case]
Jeremiah: How much?
Renard: If you want it, open the door.
[Jeremiah unlocks and opens the door]
Renard: [He walks into the apartment] I guess you don't trust me.
Jeremiah: [He clears his throat] Show me the money.
Renard: [He opens the case] Now, how do I know you'll stop threatening me?
Jeremiah: You killed the woman I love. You don't deserve an answer to that question.
Renard: I did not kill Rachel.
Jeremiah: If you were innocent, then you wouldn't have paid.
Renard: Oh, I'm not paying. You are.
[Grossante, woged as a Löwen, comes up behind Jeremiah and rips his throat out. Jeremiah falls to his knees. Flashback of Renard killing Meisner in "Set Up". Jeremiah then falls over dead]
Grossante: [He retracts] Sorry about the blood, sir.
Renard: [He looks at his shirt] It'll wash out. Congratulations on your promotion... Captain. And when you're done cleaning up, come meet me back at the precinct.
Grossante: Thank you for the opportunity, sir.
[Renard leaves]

Scene: Adalind collects some of Renard's hair from a brush.

Adalind: [Her phone rings and she answers] Monroe? Where are you?
Monroe: I'm across the street. Are you alone?
Adalind: It's just me and the kids, but they're asleep. Front door's open-I'm upstairs, first door on the right. [She hangs up and grabs one of Renard's suits from the closet] Okay.
Monroe: [He comes into the room] Adalind, do you have the hair?
Adalind: Oh. Yeah. [She hands him a bag with hair in it]
Monroe: Okay. You sure this is enough?
Adalind: It's all I could get.
Monroe: Okay. [He heads back towards the door]
Adalind: Where are you going?
Monroe: The spice shop.
Adalind: Clothes! [She hands Monroe the suit and they head towards the closet] So what's Eve gonna do?
Monroe: What do you mean "what's Even gonna do"? She's gonna make the potion.
Adalind: I mean after she makes the potion, when she turns into the Captain. [She searches the closet for a shirt]
Monroe: She's not turning into the Captain-Nick is.
Adalind: [She grabs a shirt] Nick is?
Monroe: It'll be more believable-you know, Nick being a cop and everything. Come on, I got to get going.
Adalind: Okay. [She hands Monroe the shirt] Oh, wait, wait! Shoes and tie.
Monroe: Right.
Adalind: Ties are in the back.
Monroe: Okay. Oh, blue or red?
Adalind: What?
Monroe: I don't know. Blue might be the smarter choice, you know, but I gotta say, a lot of people like red. It's a power color, but Nick's not really a tie type of guy, but then again, it's not actually gonna be Nick—
Adalind: Oh, my God, just pick one!
Monroe: Right, right. I'll take 'em both.
Adalind: Okay, hurry.
Monroe: Oh, don't forget to keep Renard home tonight.
Adalind: For how long?
Monroe: Nick just said he wants you to make sure Renard sees the 7:00 news.
Adalind: Why?
Monroe: There's gonna be some kind of announcement.
Adalind: Okay, just go.
[They hear the front door close]
Monroe: Somebody's here. Who's here?
Adalind: [She looks out the window] Crap! It's Sean.
Monroe: How do I get out of here?
Adalind: You don't. In the closet.
Monroe: What?
Adalind: Just go!
Monroe: Oh, my God, are you serious? [He goes into the closet] I don't like this idea one bit.
[Adalind closes the door just before Renard walks into the room]
Adalind: Why are you home?
Renard: I need a shirt.
Adalind: Is that blood?
Renard: It's not important.
Adalind: Are you hurt?
Renard: No.
Adalind: What happened?
Renard: Well, someone thought I killed Rachel. Thought it'd be worth a lot of money not to say anything.
Adalind: So that's not your blood.
Renard: [He scoffs] Blackmail is a risky business. [He walks towards the closet]
Adalind: Here, give it to me. I'll get you a new shirt.
Renard: No, I got it.
Adalind: I think there's some blood in your hair, too.
Renard: What? Where?
Adalind: Why don't you just go take a shower? You don't want Diana to see blood in your hair... or anyone else either.
Renard: Hang on a second. Why are you being so nice to me?
Adalind: Just trying to get with the program.
[Renard goes to take a shower]
Adalind: [She waits a few seconds after the water starts running to open the closet] Go! Now!
Monroe: Oh, my God. [He leaves]
[Adalind gets a clean shirt for Renard and closes the closet door, sighing]

Scene: Eve stirs the potion.

Eve: It's almost ready. We need Renard's hair. Where's Monroe?
Rosalee: [She sighs] I'll call him.
Nick: [He comes in through the back door] How much longer?
Eve: Monroe's not back yet with the hair.
Rosalee: I'm calling him now.
Monroe: [He walks into the shop as his phone rings] That better be you calling.
Rosalee: What happened?
Monroe: Renard came home while I was there.
Nick: Did he see you?
Monroe: No. Adalind hid me in the closet. Man, I got to tell you, she saved my ass.
Nick: What was he doing home in the middle of the day?
Monroe: He needed to come home to change his shirt 'cause there was blood on it. Something about a guy blackmailing him because Rachel was killed. I think if we think about it, we can figure out how the blood got there.
Eve: Did you get the hair?
Monroe: Yeah, right here. [He hands Eve the bag with the hair]
Eve: [To Nick] Are you ready? [She puts the hair into the cauldron]
Nick: Anything I should know?
Eve: Just breathe deeply three times. [She puts the witch's hat on top of the cauldron]
[Nick leans in to inhale the vapor]
Rosalee: Wait, wait!
Nick: What?
Rosalee: I'm just thinking, has this ever been done on a Grimm before?
Eve: I don't know.
Rosalee: Well, we should look at the books just to be safe.
Nick: No, there's no time. [He starts inhale the vapor]
Eve: Wait!
Nick: What now?
Eve: Your clothes, you should probably take them off. Renard is bigger than you. The clothes that you're wearing are gonna be a little bit tight.
[Nick starts taking his clothes off as the others try to look away. Once Nick is down to his underwear, he inhales the vapor three times]
Eve: Do you feel anything?
Nick: Not really.
Rosalee: Uh, shouldn't this be happening right now?
Monroe: Maybe it doesn't work on a Grimm?
Eve: Maybe we mixed it wrong.
Rosalee: I'll look at the books.
[Eve, Monroe, and Rosalee start looking through books, but suddenly Nick falls to the ground. Nick grunts as the transformation begins]
Rosalee: Should it be happening like this?
Eve: It's working.
[Nick grunts and groans until the transformation is complete, and then stands up]
Rosalee: Oh, my God.
Monroe: I don't think that's right.
Nick: What's not right?
Monroe: You should take a look. [He grabs a mirror]
Rosalee: Oh, no.
[Monroe hands Nick the mirror]
Nick: I'm woged?
Monroe: You cannot go out like that.
Nick: How do I get rid of this?
Eve: You have to relax.
Nick: Relax? You just turned me into a Zauberbiest!
Eve: You can't get out of it until you calm down.
Rosalee: You need to take some deep breaths.
Monroe: Nick, Nick, Nick, listen to me! You can control this. You just have to, like, let yourself go emotionally, right? And then just, like, Zen yourself out.
Rosalee: Okay, that's not-no, not helping. All right, easy, easy.
Nick: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Rosalee: We're gonna let it go, okay? Breathe... and breathe.
[Nick retracts]
Rosalee: Yeah.
Monroe: There you go.
[Nick breathes heavily and feels his face]
Rosalee: Yes.
Nick: Oh, wow, that fel-that felt so weird.
Monroe: I got to say, I've never been this happy to see Renard.
[Rosalee laughs]
Eve: It's 6:30. You don't have much time. You need to get dressed.
Nick: Yeah. Okay.

Scene: Adalind watches the news as Renard finishes getting ready to go.

Brenda Braxton: Several large newspapers across the nation have announced layoffs this week from their print media divisions. The papers all report dwindling sales numbers as the reason...
Adalind: [She looks at her watch] Now that you're here, why don't you just stay home?
Renard: Got to get back to the office.
Adalind: Why? We can make dinner.
Renard: Can't.
Adalind: S-Sean, if you want this to work out, we're gonna have to be spending more time together.
Renard: I understand, just not tonight.
Adalind: Well, there are things we need to talk about.
Renard: Like what?
Adalind: Well, your daughter, for one.
Renard: Diana? Why, did she kill somebody else?
Adalind: No, Sean, she hasn't killed anyone else, but she has other issues.
Renard: Can we just talk about this later, please?
Adalind: You want to put off talking about your own daughter? I mean, what kind of father are you?
Renard: Okay, all right, what?
Adalind: Well, her education, for one.
Renard: Her education? What about it? I mean, she's gonna go to school.
Adalind: Of course she's going to go to school, but where?
Renard: I don't know. Just pick a place.
Adalind: It's Diana. It's not that easy. What if she gets into a fight with a kid on the playground, or what if one of her teachers gives her a time-out? That might be a forever time-out for the teacher.
Renard: Well, we'll just have to explain to her that there are certain boundaries, all right? We'll work it out. [He tries to walk towards the door]
Adalind: No, I mean, she-she can't go to public school. She can't go to private school. We certainly can't homeschool her. I would go insane.
Renard: Can we deal with this later?
Adalind: But if she doesn't go to school, she'll have no friends. She'll have no sleepovers, no playdates. She'll have zero social skills. How are we gonna deal with this?
Renard: Okay, all right, I get it. Okay? I guess I can be a little late. What's on your mind?
Adalind: Well, a lot of stuff.

Scene: Monroe, Rosalee, and Eve look at Nick transformed as Renard after he gets dressed.

[Monroe chuckles]
Rosalee: Wow. You look exactly like him.
Monroe: Yeah, exactly. I mean, every hair is perfect.
Nick: [He almost hits his head on a hanging plant] Oh. It's a little weird being this tall. Mm. [He sighs, sniffs, and puts his hands on his hips] Something wrong?
Eve: The way you move.
Nick: What do you mean?
Monroe: It's a little off.
Nick: Off? Off how?
Rosalee: It's, uh... not quite Renard enough.
Monroe: Yeah, yeah, you need to be a little more... Renard-y.
Rosalee: More full of yourself.
Nick: Oh. [He changes his posture]
Eve: A lot more.
[Nick tries again]
Monroe: Oh, exactly. Like you were just elected Mayor of Portland.
Nick: Mm-hmm.
Rosalee: And you think you deserve it.
[Nick changes his expression]
Eve: And you want Nick Burkhardt dead.
[Nick scowls as the spice shop door opens]
Monroe: That's it.
Eve: That's perfect.
Rosalee: There you go.
Hank: Monroe. Rosalee.
Rosalee: Hank, back here.
[Hank walks into the back room]
Nick: I told you to give me your resignation.
Hank: [Angrily] I gave you my damn resignation!
Eve: [To Hank] Pretty good, huh?
Hank: Nick?
Nick: Yeah. Sorry. [He reaches out]
Hank: [He pulls away] No no, no. No, that's all- that had to hurt.
Nick: Oh, yeah. Yeah. [He checks his watch] Okay. [He sighs] Let's do this.

Scene: Adalind and Renard continue talking about Diana's education as the 7:00 news starts.

Brenda Braxton: It's time for "Live at 7."
Renard: All right, look, maybe I haven't given Diana's education a lot of thought, all right? But considering everything that's been going on recently? I mean, look... look, her education is just as important to me as it is to you, but right now I have to go. [He walks towards the door]
Adalind: [She gets in front of Renard and hugs him] You don't know how happy that makes me to hear you say that.
Renard: Adalind, please, I have to go.
Adalind: I know you have to go, and that is why it is so amazing that you've stayed here to talk about our daughter.
Renard: Mm-hmm.
Adalind: You are an amazing father.
Renard: Okay, yeah, I just- [He tries to walk past Adalind]
Nick: [On the TV] Citizens of Portland...
[Renard hears his voice on the TV and quickly turns around]
Nick: It is with great sadness that I stand before you tonight. [He clears his throat] Now, I wish to say that I am profoundly grateful to the people...
Renard: What the hell? [He grabs the remote and turns the volume up]
Nick: ...of this wonderful city for electing me their mayor, but it has become apparent that the recent attack on the North Precinct will require my full attention. And I am, therefore, abdicating the mayorship.
Renard: [Angrily] What?
Nick: I cannot, in good conscience, leave the police department at its time of greatest need. And I truly believe that I could best serve the city...
Adalind: When did you record this?
Renard: I didn't record this! It's live!
Nick: The recent manhunt for Detective Nick Burkhardt was actually an undercover investigation staged to bring the real killer to justice.
[Adalind slowly walks away from Renard]
Nick: Now, since this is an ongoing investigation, I cannot further comment, but I would like to thank Detective Burkhardt for his exemplary work and congratulate him on a job well done.
Renard: No, no, no, no, no, no! [He slams the remote down] No! [He turns around and looks at Adalind before walking over to her. Angrily] If I find out that you had anything to do with this... [He leaves, slamming the door behind him]

Scene: Wu meets Nick and Hank in the precinct parking garage when they arrive.

Wu: You were unbelievable on the news. The whole precinct saw it. This is Nick, right?
[They start walking to the precinct]
Nick: Yeah, it's me.
Wu: Okay, great, because that was amazing. You were so him, Nick, Renard must be going ballistic.
Hank: [His phone chimes] Hey, I just got a text from Adalind. She says Renard saw the whole thing-he's on his way here.
Nick: We don't have much time. All right, [To Wu] wait here. Stop him if he comes this way. [He and Hank walk away]
Wu: Looking forward to it.
[The scene shifts to Nick and Hank walking into Renard's office]
Officer: Welcome back, Captain. That man is a class act.
Nick: [He closes the door] Oh. You get his computer. I'll get his files.
Hank: Uh, don't you mean your files and your computer, sir?
Nick: Right. Sorry.
Grossante: [He knocks on the door and opens it] Could I have a word with you, Captain?
Nick: Can you tell me what this is about?
Grossante: It's about the operation we discussed earlier, sir. It's important.
Nick: Sure. Uh, Detective, would you give me a minute?
Hank: Don't forget-you have that meeting you can't be late for.
Nick: Be right there.
[Hank leaves the office]
Grossante: [He closes the door] What the hell is going on? We had a deal.
Nick: What about it?
Grossante: I proved my loyalty.
Nick: Uh-huh.
Grossante: I got rid of the body. I wiped down the whole damn house.
Nick: To prove your loyalty.
Grossante: Yes, to prove my loyalty.
Nick: And you did.
Grossante: Look... if I don't take over this department, you and I are gonna have a problem.
Nick: Because you were gonna take over as captain.
Grossante: That was the deal. Now, I killed a man in front of you. I kept my part of the bargain.
Nick: And then you got blood on my shirt.
Grossante: Seriously? I tear the throat out of a man who's blackmailing you, you're complaining about a little blood on your shirt?
Nick: Well, that's what I consider a deal breaker, Lieutenant... [He looks at Grossante's name tag] Grossante. So, unless you want to be arrested for murder, I suggest that you get the hell out of my office.
[Grossante woges]
Nick: Or you could die right here.
Grossante: [He retracts] I won't forget this.
Nick: Well, neither will I, Lieutenant. Neither will I.
[Grossante leaves]
Hank: [He goes back into the office] What was that about?
Nick: [He sighs] Apparently he was gonna be your new captain. [He groans and hunches over in pain]
Hank: What's wrong?
Nick: [He groans and breathes heavily] I think I'm turning back.
Hank: All right, we need to get you out of here.
Nick: Yeah. [He and Hank try to get out of the precinct, but run into reporters]
Reporter: Captain.
Reporter: Captain!
Brenda Braxton: Captain, can you tell us more about abdicating the mayorship?
Reporter: Has an arrest been made in the North Precinct attack?
Rebecca: How difficult a decision was it to remain on the force?
[Nick stammers. The scene shifts to Renard pulling into the parking garage]
Wu: Captain.
Renard: Get out of my way.
Wu: You don't want to go in there... 'cause you're already in there.
[Renard pauses]
Wu: It might be a little awkward. Just sayin'.
[The scene shifts to Nick talking to the media]
Nick: I have no intention of ever running for mayor again or any other political office. So, uh, this is where I'm needed, and this is where I'm gonna stay. If you'll excuse me. [He tries to walk away]
Brenda Braxton: Can you tell us anything else about the undercover operation?
Nick: Actually, yes, uh, only that Detective Burkhardt and his partner, Detective Griffin and, of course, Sergeant Wu did an exemplary job.
Hank: Captain, we really do need to go.
Nick: Yes, thank you. Thank you all. All right. [He walks past the press members] The press in the city has been outstanding. Thank you.
[Reporters clamor. The scene shifts to Wu and Renard in the parking garage]'
Renard: You will not get away with this.
[Nick and Hank walk towards Renard and Wu]
Wu: Sure gonna be interesting to see how you handle this... sir.
Renard: [He turns around and walks up to Nick] What the hell do you think you're doing? The people of the city elected me as mayor!
Nick: And they'll be forever grateful for my efforts. I did the right thing. I put the best interests of this city ahead of my own.
Renard: Shut up! You're not me! [He tries to lunge at Nick]
Hank: [He stops Renard as the media members walk into the parking garage] Wu, start the car!
[Reporters clamor as Hank and Wu get into the car]
Nick: Be careful. My reputation's on the line. [He gets into the car]
Rebecca: Any idea who will replace you as mayor?
[Wu, Hank, and Nick drive away]
Renard: Look, I'm not abdicating the mayorship, all right? I have no intention of stepping down!
Brenda Braxton: Can you clarify your position, sir?
Renard: Yeah, that wasn't me!
Brenda Braxton: Then who was it?
Rebecca: Weren't you just wearing a different tie, sir?
[A camera shutter clicks]

Scene: Nick, Hank, and Wu arrive at the spice shop.

Monroe: They're here. [He opens the door] Come on, come on.
Rosalee: You were great. We watched the whole thing.
Monroe: Yeah, I believed every word.
Nick: [To Eve] Couldn't have done it without you.
[Eve smiles]
Wu: I'll start going through Renard's computer and files.
Eve: Get the names of every person he's been in contact with since Dixon was assassinated.
Nick: [He takes off his tie] When's this gonna wear off, anyway?
Eve: Are you starting to feel anything?
Nick: Oh, yeah. I got hammered back in Renard's office. Felt like I got hit by a truck.
Eve: What?
Hank: Yeah, nearly knocked him down.
Eve: Nothing else happened?
Nick: No. No, I came straight here. [He sees the concerned look on Eve's face] What?
Eve: That was your body trying to turn back.
Hank: What do you mean?
Eve: The pain Nick felt was the spell wearing off.
Rosalee: But it didn't wear off.
Wu: So what happened? Or didn't happen?
Eve: I don't know. Unless... it's because you're a Grimm.
Monroe: Wait a minute. Are you saying Nick might be... like, stuck as Renard forever?

Scene: Renard goes into his office.

Renard: [He slams the door and throws his tie on the ground. He then sighs] Where the hell's my computer? [He looks around. Angrily] Where's the hell's my briefcase?

Scene: The group looks through books for a way to turn Nick back.

Eve: There's probably something in Nick's DNA that isn't allowing him to turn back into himself.
Rosalee: There must be some way to reverse this effect.
Monroe: I know the thought of looking like Renard for the rest of your life is kind of daunting, but nobody's saying this is permanent... yet.
Wu: He's right. Nick, look, there must be all kinds of spells that-that could work great on reversing whatever is going on here, right, Eve?
Eve: I know. I'm looking.
[Hank's phone rings]
Rosalee: [She walks over to Eve] I'm gonna help you.
Monroe: Don't panic, okay? Whatever you do, we're gonna figure this out.
Hank: [He holds up his phone] It's Renard. [he answers] Hey, Captain. How you doing?
Renard: Put him on the phone.
Hank: [To Nick] He wants to talk to you.
Nick: [He takes the phone from Hank] Thought I might hear from you.
Renard: So it hasn't worn off yet.
Nick: Nope, it hasn't worn off yet.
Eve: And it won't unless we come to an agreement.
Nick: And it won't unless we come to an agreement.
Renard: You think it's pretty clever what you did. This little game is over as of right now.
Nick: It's not a game, and it's not over. Now, if you think Portland's big enough for two Sean Renards, think again. You'll always be contradicting yourself. No one is ever gonna believe you. They might just think you're crazy and lock you up.
Renard: Well, then I better have a talk with myself... face-to-face.
Nick: My loft, 20 minutes. I'll be on the roof. [He hangs up]
Eve: Renard only has one thing he can use against you.
Nick: My son. [He gives Hank back his phone] Can you get Adalind and the kids, bring them back here?
Hank: I should go with you.
Nick: No, no. I'll know if he's not alone. He doesn't know about the tunnels. [To Wu] You go with Hank in case Renard puts someone on Adalind.
[Hank and Wu leave]
Rosalee: We'll find a way to get you back.
Eve: [She grabs Nick's arm] Be careful.
[Nick leaves]

Scene: Renard arrives at the roof of the loft.

[Renard looks around until Nick comes out with his gun drawn]
Nick: So, if I shoot you, is that considered suicide?
Renard: I thought we were here to talk? [He inhales deeply] At least one of me is good for my word. [He tosses his gun away and walk towards Nick] I really think there's only room for one of me in this city.
Nick: [He tosses his gun aside too, and walks closer to Renard] Which one is that gonna be?
[Renard acts like he is taking his jacket off, but punches Nick in the face]
Nick: [He chuckles] Thought I'd give you that one. [He and Renard take their jackets off] I know how much you're hurting right now.
[Renard and Nick begin fighting. Renard soon woges and punches Nick multiple times, knocking him to the ground]
Nick: I knew that was coming. [He gets up]
Renard: What'd you expect, a fair fight?
Nick: Not from you. [He woges, and Renard just stares at him for a few seconds]
[Renard grabs a pipe and swings it at Nick, but Nick disarms him and they continue punching and kicking until they go to the ground]

Scene: Eve, Monroe, and Rosalee continue searching for a way to help Nick.

Rosalee: [She sighs] There has to be some way to bring him back.
Eve: If there is, it isn't here.
Monroe: [He walks into the room] I'm not finding anything in any of the books about a Grimm going through a spell of any kind without dying.
Rosalee: Well, maybe we just... we start over, okay? We just-we just do the spell on Nick like we're doing it for the first time, except we'll turn the Captain into Nick.
Monroe: That's a great idea-then all we need is some of Nick's hair.
Eve: That won't work. We would be doing a spell on a spell, and there's still no guarantee it wouldn't kill Nick.
[Adalind, Hank, and Wu arrive with Diana and Kelly]
Adalind: [She sighs] She fell asleep in the car.
Rosalee: I made up the cot.
[Hank carries Diana over to the cot while Wu brings Kelly in]
Adalind: Where's Nick?
Hank: Uh, he's, uh, still with Renard.
Eve: The spell didn't wear off.
Adalind: What? Nick's still Renard?
Monroe: We think it has something to do with him being a Grimm.
Eve: You know more about these spells than anyone.
Adalind: Walk me through exactly what you did.

Scene: Nick and Renard both slam to the ground as their fight ends.

Nick: Oh!
[Renard retracts]
Nick: [He grunts and manages to retract after a small struggle] Ugh. We can do this all night.
Renard: It won't change a damn thing.
Nick: No, it won't.
Renard: I want my life back!
Nick: Yeah, so do I.
Renard: But I get to be mayor.
Nick: Not gonna happen. You already quit, and everybody in Portland knows it.
Renard: HW is dead in Portland, Nick. So you got no one backing you up.
Nick: Yeah, so is Black Claw, Sean. And with Bonaparte dead, you got no one to back you up either.
Renard: [He stands up] Yeah, well, someone's going down for the North Precinct attack, and that's not gonna be me.
Nick: [He stands up] Yeah, well, someone's going down for killing Bonaparte, and it's not gonna be me.
Renard: So how do you we do this?
Nick: Blame the North Precinct attack on Bonaparte.
Renard: How does that work?
Nick: Corrupt cops under Bonaparte's control got greedy. They went after him. He went after them. That's why you resigned the mayorship. You wanted to lead this investigation.
Renard: [He thinks about it for a second] You really think we can go back to the way it was?
Nick: No, but we'll figure out a way to make it work.
Renard: For both of us.
Nick: It's the only way.
Renard: [He sighs] I suppose you want your old job back.
Nick: Not just me. Wu and Hank, too.
Renard: Sure. Anything else?
Nick: Yeah, I raise my son.
Renard: I raise my daughter.
Nick: And Adalind comes with me.
Renard: [He thinks about it] Eh, take her. But just remember, Diana loves her daddy, and she would hate it if anything bad would ever happen to him. [He picks up his gun] And if I ever see another me again, this deal is dead. And so are you. [He leaves]

Scene: The group continues to have no luck in figuring out how to help Nick.

Adalind: You did everything right. Nick should've turned back by now.
Eve: Then it has to be because he's a Grimm.
Rosalee: Then what are we going to do?
Adalind: There's nothing we can do.
Wu: What are we gonna tell him?
Hank: We have to tell him the truth.
Monroe: If Nick is stuck as the Captain for the rest of his life, he's gonna blow his brains out.
[Nick walks into the shop]
Monroe: Hey, Nick.
Nick: [He sighs] Not yet.
Hank: What happened?
Nick: We came to an understanding.
Wu: Yeah, looks like it.
Hank: So what's the deal?
Nick: Renard's gonna stick to what I said on the news tonight.
Eve: And you're no longer on the run?
Nick: That's the deal.
Wu: What about us?
Nick: We all get our jobs back.
Hank: And Renard's the Captain. That'll be interesting.
Monroe: One big happy family.
Adalind: Do I have to go back with Renard?
Nick: No, you're coming with me. But he wants Diana with him.
Adalind: I'm not giving up my daughter.
Nick: You don't have to, but you're gonna have to share her. If you try to keep her away from him, it might only make things worse.
Monroe: Um, small question- don't want to rock any boats here, but how do we know this is really Nick and not the Captain trying to trick us?
Rosalee: Oh, he's right. Nick could be dead.
Nick: It's not Renard. It's me. I-I-I just can't get out of this.
Monroe: That sounds good, but that's exactly what Renard would say.
Eve: We need to ask him a question only Nick would know.
Adalind: Where was our first kiss?
Nick: At the table in my loft. Or at the Bremen Ruins where I took your powers.
Adalind: That was not a kiss. It's Nick. I want to hug you right now, but I can't hug this.
Nick: Has someone figured out a way to get me out of this?
[Everyone stays silent]
Nick: I take it that's a "no."
Eve: It might be because of who you are. There may not be a way out of it.
Nick: Well, I can't stay like this.
Rosalee: Nick, we're not going to give up.
Diana: Daddy?
[Nick turns around]
Diana: What happened to your face?
Adalind: Daddy just had a little accident, honey.
Nick: Yeah, I, uh... I'm okay. [He kneels down in front of Diana]
Diana: [She puts her hand on Nick's chest and woges her eyes] You're not my daddy. [She telekinetically throws Nick through the door into the main room of the shop]
Adalind: No, honey! Honey, it- [She pulls Diana's arm down]
[Diana retracts her eyes]
Adalind: Nick is just trapped in Daddy's body. It's not his fault.
[Nick groans in pain as he finally changes back to himself. He breathes heavily once he is back to normal]
Adalind: [She goes over to Nick] Nick.
Nick: Yeah. [Adalind hugs him] Oh. Mm.
[Diana glares at Nick]

Scene: Renard walks around his room.

[Renard takes his coat off]
Meisner: So...
[Renard takes his gun out and quickly turns around]
Meisner: How did it go? [He stands up] I tried to tell you.
[Renard is shocked to see Meisner]
Meisner: You chose the wrong side, Sean.
