Thug 1 had originally approached Marie's room while Monroe was guarding her, but he withdrew after both Monroe and Marie became aware of his presence. Thug 1 and Thug 2 began beating Monroe, who converted to his Blutbad form and counterattacked. Monroe picked up Thug 1 and threw him against the ceiling fixtures of the room. Monroe then ripped off Thug 2's arm. It is unclear whether Thug 1's original goal was to harm Marie or only to distract Monroe, allowing the priest to kill Marie.
