Volkodlak

A Volkodlak (FOE-kode-lahk; Slovenian "wolf hair") is a wolf-like Wesen that was mentioned by Monroe in "Cry Luison".

Trivia[]

  • The Volkodlak is the name of a werewolf from the mythology of Russia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romaniac and Serbia.
  • The name Volkodlak is derived from the Serbian word Vukodlak (VOO-kod-lahk; Serbian "wolf hair"). In Proto-Slavic mythology (which is present in the history of all Slavic cultures), the Vukodlak is essentially the same as a vampire. Vampires were frequently depicted in various animal forms, such as dogs, cats, equine animals, and wolves. In some descriptions, the Vukodlak appears in human form, just like the vampire, except overgrown with dark hair. This is supposed to be the main difference between the Vukodlak and the vampire. In Montenegro, it is documented that it was once believed that a vampire must spend a certain amount of time in a wolf-like form in order to stay alive.
